What is Interoception?

March 11, 2022 by jennifer 1 Comment

Have you ever heard of our hidden sense called Interoception? Just what is interoception? It helps us feel the inside of our body.

Feeling the inside of our body is important because it lets us know if we are hungry, full, thirsty, sick, in pain, in need of the bathroom, angry, overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated, etc.

What is Interoception?

Interoception can be affected in many people with autism, ADHD, SPD, anxiety, eating disorders, depression and even obesity.

Without good interoception, it can be difficult to know and act on exactly how you feel in the moment.

Check out this new video to learn more about the 1 Big Thing that No One is Talking About (but should be!!): Interoception, The Eighth Sense.

It is not autism specific, but really applies to many, many people.
