Affection for Tactile Defensive Kids: Plant a Kiss Book Review

Plant a Kiss Written by Amy Krouse Rosenthal, Illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds

For children who are tactile defensive, showing physical affection can be particularly tough. My son can barely bring himself to give hugs, let alone a kiss.

While I don’t believe in forcing children into giving hugs or kisses, our tactile defensive kiddos also need to understand the importance of connecting with others and being able to show love.

The book Plant a Kiss is about a girl who plants one simple kiss and watches it grow into something much bigger. We use this book as a way to talk about how we have the power to make others feel good and fill up the tanks of those around us.
